Accused in the past of enabling Boko Haram, Borno state governor Kashim Shettima has in the past weeks again come under attack of being behind the recent ambush of the UN aid convoy in the troubled state.
Many locals are accusing the governor of having orchestrated the ambush to scare away international organisations from reporting on the true state of affairs of dying Boko Haram displaced victims.
The media and non governmental publications of diversion of trucks of food meant for IDPs caused serious embarrassment to the Buhari administration which summoned Borno state governor and Nigerian national and state emergency workers.
The latest accusations add up on recent and past accusations of the governor being linked with Boko Haram. The governor notably enjoys noticeable immunity from Boko Haram attacks over the past six years.
